Minutes of the PCC Meetings
In addition to usual committee matters the following were discussed:
Fabric - The Gallery rail and associated works now completed, with grateful thanks to the Caroline Montagu Weston Memorial Foundation for additional funds received to make this possible.
A new “welcome” information board has been produced using some funds from the £1000 raised by the Flower Fund. This sits on the windowsill near the organ.
The Charles Sykes Triptych will be displayed in the Abbey Church during the Easter period and will then be stored safely in church. The PCC agreed in principle the suggestion for a photographic reproduction to be produced to hang above the Altar in the Gallery Chapel. In addition, the PCC agreed to explore the removal and disposal of the cabinet currently sited in the Gallery Chapel.
Quotes for replacement lighting in the church, together with consultations regarding this are ongoing.
New handrails at the East Door entrance now complete and secure.
The PCC agreed the introduction of new measures concerning procedures for hiring, together with a Concert Manager and team.
Finances - The Annual Accounts were accepted by the meeting for presentation at the Annual Parishioners Church Meeting on 20.3.20, subject to inspection.
BMap – The newly formed Cycling Group has yet to make its first ride; weather has prevented this, so they will reform in the Spring. It is hoped that a Walking group can be established; a leader is being sought. Benefice outing 24.6.20 to West Dean Gardens and Chichester cathedral. Please see separate advertising for this. Pilgrimage to the Glastonbury Annual religious festival to be arranged.
Deanery Synod has not met.
Director of Music reported that recruiting to the choir is still proving difficult. The monthly Evensong will be open to anyone who can read music; anyone interested please contact Mr Philip Baxter via the church office.
Social committee and team continue to work hard to cater for the many events held over the year. Next events: Wine tasting, Musical Extravaganza and Harvest Supper will all be advertised in due course.
Easter arrangements were clarified; full details to be published. Services will be held at all three churcheson Easter Sunday.
The PCC discussed the introduction of a policy for Beaulieu Abbey Church in respect of numbers of Godparents at Baptisms. It was agreed that three Godparents should be the normal number, with four a maximum at the discretion of the Rector.
Next meeting is the APCM on Friday 20th March 2020 at 6.30pm in the Church Hall of the Abbey Church, Beaulieu. All who are on the Electoral Roll may attend. Please send apologies to the Secretary or to the Benefice office.
