Minutes of the PCC Meetings
Fr John welcomed new members to the PCC: Adam Mills (Church Warden), Miranda Elliott and Philip Baxter (Director of Music)
The Treasurer and Secretary were re elected for the coming year, and it is noted that this will be the last year the current secretary will be in post, so a replacement will be needed.
Working groups and sub-committees were finalised; full list is on all church notice boards.
Charities which Beaulieu Abbey Church is supporting this year are The Womens Refuge and Medecin Sans Frontiers.
Social functions and occasions to be advertised, the next being the Musical Gala on 13th July, raising funds for the Abbey Church.
In addition to usual committee matters the following were also discussed:
BMap – Aims, Outreach and Mission is to be included within BMap. The meeting discussed how we may encourage people to come to our church, of reaching out to the parish and to families. A number of issues and ideas were talked through and will be worked on through the year, including activities for children, musical events, encouragement to help and become involved at church. Signage in church is to be improved to help understanding of the building and the team of Welcomers is proving popular and very positive.
Fabric – Several matters for the PCC to deal with are ongoing.
Andrew Sykes Triptych: the final siting of this artwork is yet to be decided.
Lighting: the Fabric committee is researching dimmable LED`s for the church. The existing bulbs are no longer available and lighting costs are extremely high.
Pews: two pews to be shortened and one to be resited to allow space in front of the Chancel. No other changes to be made to pews at this time.
Perimeter wall: the meeting agreed that repair work should be carried out in accordance with the stonemason`s report. To discuss with the Estate.
Handrail and guard rail: Faculty has been obtained, and funding is now being sought to cover all costs.
In addition the committee will look into the possibility of installing a defribulator on site, and possible curtaining in the church hall.
