Minutes of the PCC Meetings
In addition to usual committee matters the following were discussed:
BMap – our plan is in place and working on all aspects. As well as events in church several trips were arranged this year, all helping to reach out to the community. Thanks to John Hughes for arranging the trips.
The two organ recitals held in the Abbey Church at the time of writing have raised £600. Thanks go to Mick and Liz Wigfield for producing lunches.
Safeguarding – comprehensive information regarding this is available.
No Deanery Synod report as next meeting is 12.3.19
Draft annual accounts were presented and approved; cashless donating discussed and agreed. Variety of methods in use now. Donations may be made by text, via the church website, card reader and Tap and Go.
Fabric Report included updates on several projects:
Discussion to continue as to final location for the Charles Sykes triptych once renovations are complete.
Skilful work to capping stones completed.
St Francis window to be repaired following water ingress due to rust from iron tie bars
Research to continue for interior church lighting as replacement bulbs are not available and very costly lighting system.
New handrails for the steps into the church from the East door to proceed.
PCC approved the design for a guard rail to be fitted to the front of the Gallery Chapel.
The original Altar rug has been cleaned and is now stored in the Mezzanine.
To consider how to make more space near Chancel steps. Possibly move/remove some pews to make a wider walkway and/or open front section for more flexible use. Perhaps replace with comfortable, good quality chairs. Congregation`s opinions and ideas welcome.
Floodlighting - Father John to place an article in the Parish News regarding a new scheme to offer the chance to light the outside of the church, for a donation, to mark an anniversary, birthday or in memory of a loved one.
Rector`s Lunches continue to be popular, with new people coming along; 40 or people attended the February lunch.
Next meeting is the APCM in the Abbey Church Hall on Friday 22nd March 2019. Several members of the PCC will be standing down having served their time.
