Summary of Beaulieu PCC Meeting held 23rd August 2016

In addition to usual committee matters the following were discussed:

Support roles at BAC – some tasks have been filled and other still need volunteers. Please contact the Church Warden if you can help:

Stewarding: the church is now open each morning to Noon, with a band of volunteers in place to welcome visitors. Co ordinator needed.

Verger duties and concert management: one or two more people are needed to attend events

Lunchtime recitals: now being coordinated by Jane Cockeram

Weddings coordinator: required to keep in contact with couples as they prepare for their wedding day

Website, social media: to be dealt with by Nigel Betteridge

Outings: John Hughes dealing

Jane Barnicoat-Chongwe begins her three year training course to become a Licensed Lay Minister. The PCC congratulated her and agreed to give her full support.

Discussion regarding the choir considered many suggestions for the future. Working group set up to consider this further. Any questions contact the Choir master Peter Hackston.

Pmap: Wednesday morning gatherings are working well, these may reduce to fortnightly through the Winter. Other potential events were considered. Jane B-C dealing, and she will be in the Childrens area of the church each fourth Sunday to ensure a welcome and contact with young families.

Uganda church: the PCC wishes to continue our link with St Andrew`s, Namaistu and is researching best ways to give practical help

Deanery Synod Report: Two presentations given, on Holidays at Home (Brockenhurst project) and the Deanery visit to Rwanda earlier this year (made clear that funds being used wisely and efficiently)

Fabric Report: Work in hand to repair the column in the SW corner of the church; Sanctuary lamp to be repositioned to the SW corner in due course and a pulley system for changing the bulb to be investigated; vestry office to be refitted shortly.

Social Committee: has catered for several large events recently and will be covering the following:

Service for Brena Willams (Sept), Harvest Supper (10.10.16) Tinsel and Turkey (1.12.16)

A Flower Festival is to be held in September 2017. Details to follow.

H&S: Note to all: following two minor falls please note that access to Beaulieu Abbey Church should be made through the East door rather than via the church hall corridor.
