Summary of Beaulieu PCC Meeting held 31st May 2016

In addition to usual committee matters the following were discussed:

The PCC discussed priorities for the year and decided our most important issues. Building links with young people and families, raising the profile of the church locally, to find out what the church means to the parish and several other topics raised.

P Map: to implement the third principle “as agents of social transformation” the church will begin Food and Fellowship, with coffee, cake and chat after the Wednesday morning service, consider a Sunday lunch and possibly a film evening.

Churchyard Wildlife Trail to be agreed with our Youth workers.

Our link with the church in Uganda continues, through contact with Nimrod Wambette.

Deanery Synod Report: Last meeting 3rd March, presentation given “Helping Resource Your Youth”. (Since then meeting with Diocesan Youth Team representative to explore long term aims.) New Forest Nightstop, Christians against Poverty Solent Credit Union presentations also. Next meeting due 16.6.16

Fabric Reports covered these main topics: the organ rebuild is complete. Work on buttresses and water gulley completed. Work needed on stone pillar in the church; when scaffolding in place the Sanctuary Lamp will be moved back to the Sanctuary. The Priest`s Vestry to continue as the Benefice office; some practical changes to be made for this to function more efficiently.

The Health and Safety policy was adopted and is in place for all church and hall users.

Parking for Beaulieu Abbey Church in bad weather being addressed. Only when the meadow is too wet should one side of the driveway be used. Notices will be placed when this is necessary.

Charities: for 2016/17 the PCC chose the following to support:

Overseas – Medecin sans Frontiers and Disasters Emergency Committee

Local – Society of St James, Southampton.
