Minutes of the PCC Meetings

Meeting held 8th June 2015

Summary of Beaulieu PCC Meeting held 8th June 2015

In addition to usual committee matters the following were discussed:

New members attended their first meeting; John Hughes and Jane Barnicoat-Chongwe volunteered to also become Deanery Synod reps. Reps attended meeting soon after this PCC meeting, to report to PCC.

Charities: The PCC decided to support this year, locally: Waterside Cancer Support and the Foodbank, and overseas: Rwanda (Diocesan charity) and St AndrewsChurch in the Diocese of Mbale, Uganda (connection established via BeaulieuSchool)

Church Team: Many weddings, baptisms and funerals held or due to be held in the AbbeyChurch this year. A team of helpers to be set up to cover such events to share the work in future. Anyone is welcome to help (not only PCC members) please contact Sally Brearley.  To also advertise this in the weekly pew sheet.

P MAP: sub committee dealing with the many aspects of the Mission Action Plan, reporting progress to the PCC and to the Parish: attended a workshop recently, seeking ways to attract more and younger people to our church, in contact with Nimrod of the Ugandan church, working on protecting the nature and the environment around the church, hoping to involve children in this last.

Fabric Reports covered these main topics:

Bell (dating from 1655) - has been inspected and a written report is awaited.

Gold Altar Front – has been sent away to be assessed.

Brass Processional Cross (at least 110 years old) – to be taken for estimate for work to be carried out

Organ – one quote and report has been received and was distributed to members. Work is essential; PCC agreed a Clean and Overhaul programme is appropriate, to obtain another quote and to launch a Fundraising drive with a target of £25,000. Details to follow. Ideas so far:  to research possible grants, a fundraising concert, a cookery book. Other ideas and help will be very welcome.

Buttresses – work required on North side to stop damp permeating into the Vestry office and to repair stonework. Quotes awaited.

Plans for the Benefice bbq on 21st June was discussed, the deadline for tickets having been publicised.
