Funerals in Beaulieu Churches

A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.

Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in their local parish churchyard by their local parish priest regardless of whether they attended church or not.

Specifically, when someone dies, they have the right to have ashes interred in Beaulieu, Exbury or East Boldre Churchyards or to be buried in Exbury Churchyard ONLY if they

a) were resident in the parish at time of death, or

b) were on the Electoral Roll of the parish at time of death or

c) died in the parish.

It is NOT sufficient to be able to claim that the deceased once lived in the Benefice, or was once on the Electoral Roll of one of the Churches.

PROMOTING A SAFER CHURCH

The Gospel speaks of welcome for all. Being faithful to this compels us to take with the utmost seriousness the challenge of preventing abuse from happening and responding well where it has.
