Beaulieu Village Fete this weekend

The Annual Beaulieu Village Fete is to be tomorrow, Saturday, July 21st, in the grounds of Palace House.  It will be opened at 1.30 pm by the TV and Radio celebrities, Dom and Steph Parker.  It is a traditional English summer fete, with plenty of stalls for the shopaholics, opportunity to play games of chance with great prizes, and plenty of fun for children.  And there will be a BBQ and Tea Tent to satisfy the 'inner man'.

Do try to come.  It is a community event and always seems a happy time.

Sea Sunday at Bucklers Hard

Yet another Sea Sunday, blessed with beautiful weather, on the shores of the Beaulieu River at Bucklers Hard.  How blessed we are to live in this beautiful part of Britain, with views and building essentially untouched for two centuries!  About sixty worshippers joined the Beaulieu Band and the choir of the Beaulieu Abbey Church to celebrate Sea Sunday in this historic place, where warships were launched to defend Britain during the Napoleonic Wars.

The service was conducted by Father John White, Rector of Beaulieu.  Readings were taken from Psalm 107, and from the Gospel according to Matthew, Chapter 25.  The address was given by the Revd Reg Sweet, who had served both as a Chaplain in the Royal Navy, and as a member of the Mission to Seamen (Mission to Seafarers as it is now known.  Traditional hymns were sung, and the service was evacative of the immense debt that we all owe to 'those who have their business in deep waters'  Pictures of the event are now available by clicking here.

Update on the BENEFICE BBQ

The annual Benefice BBQ will take place, as advertised on Sunday 22 July in the grounds of Palace House.  Futher details of this event are now available. The time will be from 5.30 pm until 8.00 pm. The menu (which includes a welcome drink) is BBQed chicken and sausage, Dauphenoise potatoes, salads, strawberries and cream, shortbread and cheese and biscuits.  Both wine and soft drinks will be available for sale.  Tickets are priced at £13.00 per person, and can be obtained from Margaret Marshall, either after Sunday morning service at the Abbey Church, or by telephone contact 02380 892469.  Do come!  It is invariably a memorable social event.

More news about our Beaulieu Village Fete

Preparations are well under weigh for the Fete on July 21.  We are still looking for a bit of help.  The Teat Tent is hoping to attract two people, one to assist with taking the money (a sitting down job) and the other to help in washing up crockery during the afternoon.  Interested folk, please apply to Diane Bacon, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..   Other tasks include setting up the Fete on Friday morning in the grounds of Palace House, starting at 9.00 am, and equally importantly, taking down the fete on Saturday afternoon at 4.30.  Volunteers to Peter Melhuish please, at This email address is being protected from spambots.
