After the Musical Gala (July 13) and the Beaulieu Village Fete (July 20), the Benefice BBQ (August 4) completed a trio of events which have tested the stamina of many members of the Abbey Church. Unlike last year, when the BBQ was held on the lawns of Palace House, this year's BBQ was held on the front lawn of the Beaulieu Rectory, by kind courtesy of the Rector, Father John Cooper White.
The weather was cool, with a slight wind, but dry. Over seventy members of the Benefice attended, had a welcome drink of Pimms or Elderflower tasting water and then enjoyed a meal of barbequed chicken, hamburgers and vegetarian sausages, served with Dauphenoise potatoes, green and carrot salad and other delicacies. The meal concluded with a strawberry trifle, shortbread and cheese and biscuits. Altogether a real treat, courtesy of the hard working Beaulieu Abbey Church Social Committee, plus helpers! After organising drawing of the raffle, Father John thanked all those who contributed to the success of the event.
