Benefice Charabanc trip to the Isle of Wight
September 26rd 2017
At last our long awaited trip to the Island is almost upon us.
Our coach will leave the Abbey Church Meadow at 0900 and we shall board the Red Funnel Ferry for the 1100 crossing to East Cowes.
Our first stop will be to St Mildred’s Church at Whippingham, where we will have a guided tour. The church is close to Osbourne House and Queen Victoria worshiped there regularly. The churchyard is the final resting place for a number of the Crowned Heads of Europe.
From Whippingham we shall go on to Godshill for lunch where there are a number of excellent café’s.
Our final stop will be to Quarr Abbey which has historic links with Beaulieu Abbey and which continues as a working Benedictine Monastery.
Our day concludes with evening prayers with the Monks before our return journey back to Beaulieu by about 2030.
The cost of the day for the coach and ferry crossing will be about £30.00.
All are welcome….
