The Bishop of Winchester has recently circulated this letter to the clergy and people of the diocese.
MESSAGE FROM THE BISHOP OF WINCHESTER
BISHOP OF WINCHESTER’S CHRISTMAS APPEAL: BRITISH RED CROSS
This year, Bishop Tim Dakin has asked everyone in the Diocese to give what they can to the British Red Cross.
It is now one year since the first refugee family moved into Hampshire, and more families have begun to arrive and live within our Diocesan community since then. Bishop Tim has been working closely with Hampshire County Council, who are supporting refugees now living within our Diocese. This work is being assisted by the British Red Cross, which is providing a range of different services including legal and language supports, in additional to practical support in the form of food and clothing where needed. The Bishop’s Christmas appeal aims to raise funds to support this vital work.
To donate to the appeal please do so via the Diocesan JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/winchesterchristmas, and if you are a taxpayer, please do add Gift Aid to your donation. Any contributions made via this page will be used to support the British Red Cross’s work supporting refugees in our Diocese.
